Continuing the theme, this is from Cape May, taken while I was there with my family over the holidays.

Another from the same trip.
Pittsburgh Water 1
Since our trip to New Orleans last year, I’ve been collecting photos of utility pipe covers and manhole covers. I think the appeal for me is related to my love of making quilts from a collection of similar but not identical blocks. This was taken in Pittsburgh, last Labor Day weekend, while I was visiting my pal Jen.
Water and Water Meter
Every city seems to do these covers a little bit differently. I think my fascination with photographing them is analogous to making quilt blocks. I’m envisioning eventually having a large grid of these images.
Equitable Gas
I spent Labor Day weekend in Pittsburgh, with my two best pals, Jen and Donna, their husbands (both Scott), and Jen’s kids Logan and Brenna. After a fabulous birthday brunch for Jen on Sunday, we took a stroll through the hip neighborhood. A lot of the stores were closed, but it was still fun to window shop. So far, everything I’ve posted here has been older work, that has been scanned from slides or negatives that span the last twenty years. I’m going to mix it up a bit for the next couple of weeks while we are on vacation….
