Nagas & Ornamentation

The aspect of this trip that stands out most for me, by far, is the incredible quantity and variety of decoration we saw in the temples we visited. The materials ranged from carved wood, with or without gilding, to mosaics made of colored mirrors or tile, to carved and sculpted cement. We spent a tremendous amount of time photographing these details, including the naga figures that guarded the entryways and rooflines of temple buildings, painted murals, architectural details, and allover patterns covering entire walls. This collection gathers my favorites from all the temples we visited.
