A is for Asparagus

I’ve joined the 2006 Alphabet-Along, hosted by Anne. This is my first installment. Here’s a little background. When I was in college, studying photography, I created an alphabet book as senior project. All the images were created by placing the items on a flatbed scanner. It was a lot of fun to make, and I always dreamed of seeing it bound in actual book form. Ten years ago, it was prohibitively expensive for a college student to get 26 decent digital prints, much less self-publish a book. Now, with all the great products that places like Shutterfly available, it’s well within reach.

When I left school with my BFA, I was a bit… disillusioned, shall we say, with the experience, and with photography by extension. I’ve struggled since then to get back to the pure joy that photography was for me when I was younger. In the last few months, I’ve finally been approaching that again, and this blog has been both a catalyst and an outlet for my getting back to working regularly. When I came across the ABC-along, it struck a chord with me, and seemed a good way for me to get this alphabet book together.

So I guess that leaves one more thing: how did I come across this knitting blog? Well, along with photography, I also knit, make quilts, and do all sorts of other fiber-related and crafty things. I’ve been a knitblog lurker for quite a while now.

I’m looking forward to seeing what the other members come up with, and with posting the rest of my letters!

  2. So this is what happens when bloggers come together! I’m so happy to have the opportunity to see your beautiful photographs and read your blog, all because of the ABC-Along!
